In a statement dated February 4, 2026, Chairman Wontumi said the NPP is at a pivotal moment that requires strong, unified, and principled leadership to rebuild the party and position it for victory in the 2028 general elections.

Describing himself as a grassroots-oriented leader who values all members—from elders to youth—he expressed his readiness to make personal sacrifices to strengthen and unite the party.

Chairman Wontumi explained that his decision follows consultations with party elders and spiritual guidance, stressing that his ambition is motivated not by personal interest but by the need to restore confidence, empower the grassroots, and rebuild the NPP.

He also expressed confidence in the party’s preparedness, asserting that the NPP is well-organized and ready to reclaim power in 2028.
