Ghanaian singer Wendy Shay has revealed that digital streaming is now one of the strongest financial backbones of her music career, earning her significant weekly income from various online platforms.
In an interview on Adom TV, she admitted that she rarely speaks publicly about her personal finances but felt the need to highlight the impact of streaming revenue. “I don’t like discussing my earnings on air, but I make thousands of dollars every week,” she said.
She added that YouTube alone provides a major portion of her income. “Just this week, $10,000 hit my YouTube account — and that’s only from YouTube,” she noted, emphasizing that earnings from other platforms further increase her total revenue.
Wendy Shay also touched on the wider challenges faced by women in the music industry, stating that female artists often work under harsher conditions.

In a separate conversation on GHOne TV, she stressed that women must put in twice the effort to remain competitive.
“Being a woman in this industry is not easy. Sometimes our biology wants to pull us back,” she explained, pointing to emotional fluctuations, monthly cycles and fatigue as physical realities that demand even greater resilience.
