Ghanaian musician Arathejay, known in private life as Samuel Offei Ankrah, has shared an emotional yet humorous story about his father’s initial reaction to hearing his song being played publicly for the first time.
Speaking in an interview on Oyerepa Entertainment Review, Arathejay revealed that his father, who is a pastor, was both surprised and amused when he heard his son’s music being played at Accra Mall.
“The first time my father, who is a pastor, heard my music being played at Accra Mall, he came home smiling. When he asked if it was really me, and I confirmed it, he laughed. He even asked me if I went there to sing and they recorded it,” Arathejay recounted.
According to the “Jesus Christ 2” hitmaker, his father initially struggled to understand his decision to pursue music, especially as a pastor’s son who had chosen to do secular music. However, over time, his father came to appreciate the positive and godly messages embedded in his songs.
“Initially, he didn’t understand the whole music thing, but when he listened to my songs and the message being conveyed, gradually, he accepted my mission,” he added.
Arathejay explained that although he does secular music, his lyrics are inspired by faith, positivity, and a desire to motivate others, values that have earned him his father’s eventual support and pride.
The young artist continues to make waves with his unique style and inspiring messages, proving that music can uplift and transform lives, regardless of genre.
