It Will Be Easier for Dr. Bawumia to Win 2028 Than Any Other NPP Candidate – Asenso-Boakye

Asenso Boakye

Member of Parliament for the Bantama Constituency, Francis Asenso-Boakye, has stated that Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia remains the New Patriotic Party’s strongest candidate ahead of the 2028 general elections, insisting that no other aspirant stands a better chance of winning power for the party.

Speaking on the Oyerepa Breakfast Show on Monday, the former Minister for Roads and Highways said the majority of NPP Members of Parliament believe Dr. Bawumia is best positioned to lead the party back to victory.

According to Asenso-Boakye, internal party dynamics and current political realities make Dr. Bawumia the most viable option for the NPP.

“The NPP MPs understand that, under the circumstances, it’s only Bawumia who can help the party to win an election. That’s why about 70 per cent of them support him. And when we elect him to lead us, winning the 2028 elections will be much easier than with any other candidate,” he stated.

He explained that Dr. Bawumia’s experience as Vice President, his understanding of governance, and his nationwide appeal place him ahead of other potential contenders within the party.

Asenso-Boakye also noted that party unity would be crucial going into the next election cycle, urging party members to rally behind a candidate capable of consolidating the NPP’s base while attracting floating voters.

He stressed that the NPP must present a candidate with proven leadership, economic knowledge, and credibility on the national stage if it hopes to reclaim power in 2028.
