Nyaho Tamaklo made the call for the resignation of Bernard Antwi Boasiako, the Ashanti Regional NPP Chairman, during a press conference held today.

This follows a viral video that surfaced, showing Boasiako allegedly inciting the Ashanti kingdom to attack individuals who show disrespect to the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.

Dr Nyaho Nyaho Tamaklo has condemned Boasiako’s comments, warning that introducing ethnicity into politics is dangerous. He has also called for the immediate arrest of Boasiako.

In a separate incident, Dr. Tamaklo also criticized Lydia Seyram Alhassan, MP for Ayawaso West Wuogon, for distributing food to voters during the special voting on December 2, 2024. Tamaklo has described the act as unethical and an attempt to influence voters.

Controversy has erupted after a video surfaced showing Lydia Seyram Alhassan, the Member of Parliament for Ayawaso West Wuogon, and her constituency’s women’s organizer distributing food to voters at a polling station during the special voting on December 2, 2024.

Alhassan initially denied any wrongdoing but later defended her actions, claiming they were driven by compassion. However, her actions have been widely criticized, with many arguing that they constitute an attempt to influence voters.

On his part, Professor Kwabena Frimpong-Boateng, a former Minister for Environment, Science, Technology, and Innovation, has urged the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to take action against Bernard Antwi Boasiako.

This comes after Boasiako allegedly made comments that could be perceived as inciting violence in the Ashanti region. Professor Frimpong-Boateng emphasized that only Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu, has the authority to declare war in the Ashanti region, implying that Boasiako’s comments were unacceptable and potentially dangerous.
