At a meeting in Accra on November 12, 2024, the founder of the APC pointed out that duties at the Ghanaian port are among the highest in the world, negatively impacting businessmen and women.

Dr. Ayariga pledges to alleviate tax burdens hindering businesses, particularly Abossey Okai spare parts operations, by removing crippling taxes and introducing free port operations if elected president. This move aims to ease import costs and streamline transactions, fostering growth.

He believes that the high cost of goods and commodities in Ghana is due to the excessive fees collected at the port. Adding that under his leadership, importers would only have to pay five duties at the port, all in Ghanaian cedi: port charges, shipping charges, Ghana Revenue, income taxes, and a
Levy.

The leader and founder of APC pledged to implement this transformative initiative within the first six months of his potential administration, subject to a successful outcome in the upcoming December 7 general elections.

He criticized Ghana’s import tax system, citing crippling effects on businesses. High duties lead to inflated prices, unsold stock, and economic stagnation. Custom officers’ wealth contrasts sharply with struggling citizens
