Don’t let your hate for someone pull you to vote against me—Bawumia begs Delegates
Former flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has appealed to party delegates in the Ashanti Region to prioritise the greater interest of the party and not let personal dislikes influence their voting decisions.
Speaking during an engagement with delegates, Dr. Bawumia emphasised that he has no personal issues with anyone but expressed concern over how some individuals may transfer their dislike for people close to him into the voting process.
“I don’t have problems with anyone, and you are aware of that. However, if you don’t like anyone close to me, that should not be a reason for you not to vote for me. Don’t let your dislike for the person force you to vote against me,” he cautioned.
The former Vice President stressed the need for unity within the NPP as the party positions itself for the future, urging delegates to judge him by his own record, vision, and leadership qualities rather than their sentiments toward those within his circle.
According to him, internal divisions fueled by personal grievances have the potential to weaken the party’s strength in the Ashanti Region — a stronghold of the NPP — and could undermine efforts to secure victory in future elections.
He therefore called on party faithful to remain focused on the collective goal of returning the NPP to power and not allow side issues to derail their commitment.
