NPP has learnt key lessons from 2024 election defeat – Justin Frimpong

The General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Justin Kodua Frimpong, says the party has drawn important lessons from its defeat in the 2024 general elections and is repositioning itself for the future.

Speaking in the wake of the party’s just-ended flagbearer contest, Mr. Kodua Frimpong said the internal process marked a critical step in the NPP’s rebuilding efforts and demonstrated the party’s commitment to renewal and unity.

“We have learnt a lot from our defeat in the 2024 elections,” he stated, adding that the experiences have informed reforms within the party’s structures and decision-making processes.

According to him, the recently concluded flagbearer contest provided the NPP with an opportunity to reflect, reorganise, and energise its grassroots ahead of the 2028 general elections. He described the exercise as largely successful, transparent, and peaceful, crediting party members and delegates for their discipline and commitment.

Mr. Kodua Frimpong noted that the party is focused on strengthening internal cohesion, improving engagement with supporters, and addressing concerns raised by the electorate during the 2024 polls.

He stressed that lessons from the election defeat would guide the NPP’s policy direction, campaign strategy, and leadership approach going forward.

The General Secretary called on party faithful to rally behind the newly elected flagbearer and work together to rebuild public confidence and return the NPP to power.

The NPP recently concluded its presidential primaries, paving the way for the party to begin preparations toward the 2028 general elections.
