Gbese Dzase Petitions Ga Traditional Council to Rectify Usurpation of Gbese Royal Stool

The Gbese Dzase has petitioned the Ga Traditional Council to rectify the alleged usurpation of the Gbese Royal Stool and to suspend and investigate Thomas Okine immediately from any function.

Speaking at a press conference, Nii Ashirifi Mettle Nunoo, head of Nyan Ahabiamo, called on the Ga Traditional Council to issue a public declaration of the illegality of Thomas Okine’s installation and also assist in enforcing strict adherence to the 1941 succession agreement and the legitimate Gbese authority

Nii Ashirifi alleged that Thomas Okine is not the legitimate Gbese Mantse. As legitimate kingmakers, they want the Ga Traditional Council to investigate Thomas Okine’s involvement in all functions and privileges and put an end to the misunderstanding concerning the legitimate Gbese Mantse once and for all.

“We stand before you today, not as individuals, but as custodians of Gbese tradition and legitimate Guardians of the sacred stool. For generations, the Gbese stool has symbolised unity, leadership, and continuity within the Ga State. Its succession is governed by the 1941 Bese succession agreement, repeatedly affirmed by the Supreme Court of Ghana, and rooted in the unbroken customs of ancestors. Unfortunately, these sacred foundations have been disregarded.”
