“I’ll hire a tutor, not go back to school” – Obaapa Christy on education plans

Gospel singer Rev. Obaapa Christy has shared her personal views on education, revealing that she has no intention of returning to formal classroom learning.

In an interview on Hitz FM, the award-winning artist addressed ongoing public perceptions about the English proficiency of some Ghanaian gospel musicians, including herself.

She candidly acknowledged that she doesn’t have a strong academic background but emphasised that her ministry is built on spiritual depth rather than language fluency.

“For me, it’s not about speaking perfect English,” she said. “I may not be fluent, but I have the Holy Spirit. He gives me the lyrics—and that’s what matters most in ministry.”

Obaapa Christy made it clear that while she remains open to personal development, traditional schooling isn’t the route she would take. Instead, she prefers a more tailored and private approach to learning.

“Given who I am now, I’d rather hire a tutor to teach me at home,” she explained, adding that her decision is based on practicality and comfort, not pride.

Obaapa Christy, known for hit songs like W’asue Me and Hyebre Sesafo, continues to inspire fans with her blend of humility, honesty, and spiritual focus.
