Wanted IT Engineer surrenders to OSP, granted bail under strict conditions
Raphael Mensah, an IT engineer declared wanted by the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP), has voluntarily turned himself in after being sought in connection with a corruption-related investigation.
The OSP issued a notice on July 10, 2025, requesting the public’s assistance in locating Mr. Mensah, who is accused of aiding and abetting the improper use of public office for personal gain. The charges, filed under sections 20(2) and 179C(a) of the Criminal Offences Act, 1960 (Act 29), allege that he played a pivotal role in facilitating the exploitation of public office for private benefit.
Mr. Mensah, who was reportedly outside the country when the notice was issued, returned to Ghana and appeared in court on Tuesday, July 15, 2025.
The presiding judge granted him bail in the sum of GHS 100,000, with two sureties. As part of the bail conditions, Mr. Mensah was ordered to surrender his passport to the court and report to the Office of the Special Prosecutor every two weeks while investigations continue.
The case remains active as the OSP intensifies its nationwide efforts to investigate and prosecute corruption and the abuse of public office.
