Relatives of Late Paralympic Coach were denied Visas, Not missing – SWAG Chairman clarifies

The Ashanti Regional Chairman of the Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) , Mr. Otuo Acheampong, also known as Sometymer, has debunked the allegations that relatives who were sent to Norway to bring back the body of the late paralympic coach are missing.

It could be recalled that a group of 11 individuals claiming to be athletes travelled to Oslo to participate in the Bergen Marathon under the National Paralympic Committee’s banner.

Tragically, one member of the group passed away, another was detained by Norwegian authorities while trying to enter Sweden, and the remaining nine are currently unaccounted for.

Samson Deen, the President of the National Paralympic Committee-Ghana, stated in a video message that his signature was forged on the documents used by the individuals to secure visas.

The Ministry has strongly condemned the actions of these impostors and has vowed to take strict measures against those who impersonate athletes.

In a separate interview, the President of the NPC revealed that four relatives of the deceased coach, who were sent to bring his body back to Ghana, also disappeared upon reaching Norway.

This unfortunate turn of events has raised serious concerns about the integrity of the Paralympic Committee and the need for stricter measures to prevent such incidents in the future.

Speaking on the issues in a conversation on Oyerepa Breakfast Time, Sometymer indicated that four relatives were denied visas instead.

“You heard that relatives sent to Norway to bring the body of the late paralympic coach were missing. My information from the family indicated that the missing claims are not true. The four relatives were rather denied visas. So nobody went to bring back the body of the deceased,” he told Kwesi Parker Wilson.
