Parliament is scheduled to begin the Second Session of the Ninth Parliament of the Fourth Republic on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, following the Christmas recess that concluded the First Session in December 2025.

In preparation for the resumption, the Majority Leader and Leader of Government Business has engaged in consultations with Ministers of State to review progress made during the previous session and align legislative priorities for the new sitting.

As parliamentary business gets underway, several bills, ministerial statements on key national issues, and questions to Ministers are expected to be presented to the House. Lawmakers will address a broad range of policy, governance, and development issues in the coming session.

Key matters expected to feature on the agenda include discussions on illegal mining, commonly referred to as galamsey, which continues to present serious environmental and socio-economic challenges nationwide.

Parliament will also consider the Human Sexual Rights and Family Values Bill, popularly known as the Anti-LGBT Bill, a proposed legislation that has attracted significant public attention and debate. The bill is anticipated to spark vigorous discussion among Members of Parliament, reflecting differing opinions within the House and across Ghanaian society.

The Second Session is expected to play a pivotal role in shaping critical legislative outcomes and setting the government’s policy and governance priorities for the year ahead.
