Kofi Seidu, a married man, has expressed confusion and distress after his estranged wife, Akua Abrefi, and her new boyfriend, a galamsey operator named Bismark, allegedly demanded GH¢60,000 from him for sleeping with her.
Speaking on Oyerepa Afutuo, a programme focused on resolving domestic disputes, Kofi explained that he and Akua, with whom he has three children, have been embroiled in a complicated marital conflict.
Kofi said Akua had an affair with Bismark. After confronting her family and the man involved, Kofi reportedly invoked the Antoa shrine to curse the boyfriend. The man later admitted to the affair and visited Kofi with his family to apologise. During a family meeting, Bismark was asked to compensate Kofi, paying GH¢20,000.
“I married Akua Abrefi in Asante Bekwai, and we have three children. She cheated on me, and her family came to apologise. The man admitted sleeping with her. I cursed him with Antoa, and he later came with his family to apologise. He was asked to compensate me, and he gave GH¢20,000,” Kofi recounted.
Despite this, Akua later declared she would no longer continue with the marriage, though there has been no official dissolution. During a visit to Kofi with their children, they reportedly had an intimate encounter.
Following this, Akua accused Kofi of sleeping with her despite their separation and claimed she was now married to Bismark. The boyfriend, who had previously compensated Kofi, is now allegedly demanding three times the amount—GH¢60,000—arguing that since Kofi took GH¢20,000 for sleeping with her while she was married, he should now pay compensation for sleeping with her while she is engaged to him.
“She has summoned me to queen mothers, saying I slept with her after our breakup. The man claims that since I took GH¢20,000 from him, he will now take GH¢60,000 from me,” Kofi explained, highlighting his confusion and frustration.
Meanwhile, Akua has denied some of the allegations, claiming that Kofi had already told her he was no longer interested in continuing the marriage.
