MTN presents Bright Scholarship Awards to over 250 students

Telecommunications giant MTN Ghana has presented its Bright Scholarship Awards to 250 students across the country as part of its commitment to supporting education and empowering the next generation of leaders.

Speaking at the presentation ceremony, Dr. Isaac Mate, General Manager for Sustainability and Shared Value at MTN, urged the beneficiaries to make the most of the opportunity by working hard in their studies.

“This scholarship is an investment in your future. We encourage you to study hard, stay focused, and use this support to become better individuals who will contribute positively to society,” he said.

He expained the Bright Scholarship will be extend to STEM, vocational, and technical education.

“The expanded scholarship will target students pursuing STEM, vocational, and technical education, as well as teachers seeking to upgrade their skills in these critical areas,” Dr. Mate stated.

The Bright Scholarship covers tuition, accommodation, and a stipend for books and other educational materials. It is one of MTN’s flagship corporate social responsibility initiatives, aimed at easing the financial burden of brilliant but needy students.

Some of the awardees expressed profound gratitude to MTN for the intervention, noting that it would go a long way in relieving them and their families of financial pressure.

“This scholarship has come at the right time. It will allow me to concentrate fully on my education without worrying about how to pay my fees,” one beneficiary shared.

2025 Bright Scholarship Awards: Empowering Students and Teachers Across Ghana

The 2025–2026 edition of the Bright Scholarship Awards has once again affirmed its reputation as one of Ghana’s most competitive and impactful educational initiatives. This year, a total of 3,691 applicants vied for the opportunity, out of which 1,200 were shortlisted for interviews. Eventually, 500 exceptional students and teachers from 42 public institutions across the country emerged as beneficiaries.

The awards ceremony was attended by the Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene, who lauded MTN Ghana for its sustained investment in education and social equity.

He noted with pride that 38 beneficiaries came from the Ashanti Region and praised the deliberate inclusion of differently abled students in the 2025 cohort.

“MTN is not only providing access to education but is also correcting some of the foundational imbalances in our society,” Dr. Amoakohene remarked.
