The government has announced a new cocoa producer price of GH¢41,392 per tonne for the remainder of the 2025–2026 crop season, in a bid to stabilise the sector and provide relief to farmers.

The revised price, approved by the Producer Price Review Committee (PPRC), takes effect from Thursday, February 12, 2026. This translates to GH¢2,587 per bag.

Speaking at a press briefing on Thursday, Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson said the adjustment was based on prevailing conditions on the international cocoa market. He explained that the new rate reflects current global prices and is intended to restore confidence within the cocoa industry.

Dr. Forson noted that the price increase is expected to inject liquidity into the cocoa value chain, enabling faster payments to farmers who have faced delays in recent months. According to him, the move will help ease financial pressures at the farm level.

He added that the revision forms part of broader reforms aimed at ensuring the long-term sustainability of Ghana’s cocoa sector. The measure, he said, is necessary to strengthen the industry’s financial position and improve outcomes for cocoa farmers.

“As a result, the PPRC announces that effective today, Thursday, 12th February 2026, the new producer price for the remainder of the 2025–2026 crop season will be GH¢41,392 per tonne and GH¢2,587 per bag,” he stated.
