The accused, 30-year-old Ahmed Hassan Abdul Razzaq, is reported to have posted a video on his TikTok account, @breakingnewsghana, claiming that two military officers were planning to assassinate President John Dramani Mahama.

The court did not take a plea from Razzaq and directed that he remain in custody until his next hearing on February 9, 2026. The case is being prosecuted by Chief Inspector Maxwell Lanyo.

Court documents indicate that the complainant is the Ghana Police Service. Razzaq allegedly uploaded the video on January 20, 2026, naming Sergeant Amoh and Sergeant Joseph as the officers involved in the alleged plot. He was subsequently arrested the next day at Adjiringanor in the Greater Accra Region.

In his caution statement, Razzaq admitted posting the video but said he did not personally know the officers. He explained that he had come across a social media post claiming the assassination plot, which prompted him to share the video. However, he was unable to provide investigators with the source of the original post.
