Alpha Hour Appearance Came With Threats on My Life – Esther Smith

Ghanaian gospel musician Esther Smith has disclosed that she received death threats ahead of her return to Ghana in December 2025.

Speaking in an interview with PAAM TV UK on January 13, 2026, the veteran singer revealed that while preparing to travel from the United Kingdom for the highly anticipated Alpha Hour Convocation, she received threatening messages from an unknown individual using a Nigerian phone number.

According to Esther Smith, the sender demanded €300,000, claiming the money would be used to halt an alleged plot to kill her.

“I know my management will not say it, but I will. Before my return to Ghana, someone sent me messages threatening to harm me and demanded €300,000 to spare my life,” she said.

She further disclosed that officers from the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) provided her with security during the 2025 Alpha Hour Convocation, which was held at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Esther Smith explained that the individual behind the threats claimed he had been hired by her “enemies” and also threatened to hijack her YouTube channel. She added that her team initially withheld some of the details from her to prevent distraction ahead of her performance.

The gospel musician noted that this was not the first time she had received such threatening messages, stating that she had encountered similar incidents in the past.

She concluded by appealing to her fans and loved ones to continue to remember her in their prayers.
The Alpha Hour Convocation, organised by Pastor Elvis Agyemang, the founder and lead pastor of Grace Mountain Ministry, took place on December 30, 2025, and drew a massive crowd. Esther Smith, who is currently based abroad, was among the gospel artistes who led worship at the event.
