Mahama’s Speeches Reflect Focus on National Development – Afriyie-Ankrah

The Presidential Envoy for Interfaith and Ecumenical Relations, Elvis Afriyie-Ankrah, has described John Dramani Mahama as a “guru” in delivering public speeches, praising his clarity of vision and consistent focus on national development.

Speaking on the sidelines of Ghana’s 69th Independence Anniversary celebration at the Jubilee House, he said the President has shown exceptional precision and purpose in his public addresses.

According to Afriyie-Ankrah, from the President’s recent State of the Nation Address to other speeches delivered since assuming office, Mahama has consistently communicated a clear message centered on national progress and transformation.

He noted that the President remains focused and committed to Ghana’s development, often encouraging citizens to remain hardworking and consistent in pursuing the country’s aspirations.

Using an analogy to explain the government’s economic direction, Afriyie-Ankrah compared the state of the economy when the National Democratic Congress assumed office to a field overgrown with weeds.

These “weeds,” he said, represented challenges such as inflation, the high dollar exchange rate, and elevated interest rates, which had to be cleared first to create a favorable environment for investors and businesses.

He added that government policies, including the recently passed 24-hour economy initiative, are aimed at opening new opportunities for both local and international investors while creating jobs for the youth.

While acknowledging that Ghana’s problems cannot be solved within a year, Afriyie-Ankrah expressed optimism that correcting the economic fundamentals will prepare the country for a major economic take-off.
