Kasoa Tollbooth Murder: Suspect Remanded After Pleading Guilty
The Amanfrom District Court, presided over by Her Ladyship Emelia K. Abruquah, has remanded a 35-year-old man, Bra Sammy, into police custody for one month over the alleged murder of his girlfriend, 26-year-old fashion designer, Mabel Asantewaa.
The tragic incident occurred last Wednesday at Kalabule Chinese, near the Kasoa Tollbooth in the Ga South Municipality, leaving residents in shock.
Police investigations revealed that the suspect allegedly demanded sex from the deceased, who refused on the grounds that she was menstruating. The disagreement reportedly escalated, resulting in her death.
After the act, Bra Sammy allegedly ingested a poisonous substance in an attempt to take his own life. He was rushed to hospital for treatment, and upon regaining consciousness, led police to the crime scene where he identified the knife believed to have been used.
The accused has since pleaded guilty and is expected to reappear before the court on October 19, 2025.
