12 National Security Officers, Two Alleged Landguards Remanded Over Unlawful Demolition

The Awutu Ofaakor Circuit Court, presided over by Her Honour Nana Asantewaa Attakorah, has remanded 12 National Security officers and two alleged notorious landguards into police custody for two weeks over their alleged involvement in the unlawful demolition of more than 60 buildings under construction at Gomoa Akoti, Gomoa Ojobi, and surrounding communities. The accused persons are facing four charges, including conspiracy to commit a crime, using force and violence to prevent lawful landowners from accessing their property, causing fear and panic, and unlawfully preventing developers from undertaking construction works on their lands.

Landowners and residents in the affected areas have reportedly been living in fear and distress due to the alleged activities of the suspects.

The court ordered that the suspects remain in police custody and reappear before it on March 4, 2026.

Some victims who were present in court expressed relief and excitement over the decision to remand the suspects, stating that the ruling would serve as a strong deterrent to others who may attempt similar acts.

Meanwhile, the traditional authorities of Gomoa Akoti have appealed to the court to ensure that justice is served, urging that the accused persons face the full rigours of the law if found guilty.
